Long Beach is a very small coastal town in Washington State.  I have always like the coastal town in Washington, they are small, quite, beautiful, mostly friendly, and, well, very coastal.

I have never visited Long Beach however, but the coupon my wife found on Living Social for Adrift Hotel change all that.  This give us that extra motivation to go.

We pick a hell of a week to visit Long Beach, it was a rainy and stormy week.  That seems to be my luck with coastal city, the last time I travel to the coastal area was to visit Westport, and it was also a stormy weekend …  only if we can predict the weather a couple months out.

It took me almost 4 hours to drive to Long Beach through highway 18, even though it is a long drive, the scenery was worth it, amazingly beautiful landscape all the way to the hotel parking lot (please ignore the interstate part around Tacoma).  It will be a much prettier drive if not for the occasional downpour.  The construction at one stretch also slow us down, but it’s part of the hoopla of traveling, it’s all good :)

As soon we arrive at the hotel, we drop our luggage, went to the front desk and took the bicycle offer right away (it came with our room reservation) and off we go.  We were told that the next two days will be rainy and stormy, so if we wanted to take advantage of the free bicycle rentals (I think it is always free), we should do it right away.

So we comply.  Hey, who are we to argue with the locals  ;)

It was almost dark at this point, but hey, we have to walk the beach and bike the trail before the rain come, not to mention I must took some photos as well.

I actually like photos that are dark with some dramatic skies compare to those bright and sunny one, some of my friend says I am weird because of this, well, come to think of it, maybe I am weird, just a little bit though, and its a good weird :)

Like its name implies, Long Beach got a lot of beach, and at the moment it is cold and empty, does make for some dramatic photos though, just the way I like it.

Is that some body’s house?  I don’t know, I didn’t have anybody to ask at the time.  If it is, wow, what a lucky owner!!  I love lone houses in vast land, so I took countless photos of the same house.  To spare you guys from looking at the same house hundreds of time, I promise I will only put two photos of the house here, maybe ….

The second photo related to the house, that’s it.  Did I mention I love to photograph lone house in vast land?

Notice the lighthouse?  Its very little from this view.  There are two lighthouses in Long Beach, they are undoubtedly the landmark of Long Beach.  It is my intention to photograph them during this trip, will I get enough break from the rain to do it?  You will have to find out at the later part of this photo walk series :)

There are not too many people at the beach, the only people that are here are probably here because of the coupon, just like us.  And just like us, they are probably trying to walk the beach before the storm come.  It’s a race with the storm, hury hury hury!

Well, this is the end of part 1, there are a lot more photos coming, stay tune :)
